Anne Hegerty has announced some exciting news away from her role on The Chase. The ITV icon, best known by her quizzing persona The Governess since 2010, has revealed that she is featured in a horror film called Deadcast. Speaking on the red carpet at the National Television Awards last night, Anne told The Independent that the production team is still crowdfunding to finish the film. When quizzed about whether or not she’d give acting a proper go in the future, she commented: “I would love to. That’d be great fun… one’s always hopeful.” The Chase had been shortlisted in the NTAs for the Quiz Show category alongside Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel and Richard Osman’s House of Games; however, the gong went to The 1% Club.

Anne appears on The Chase on rotation alongside Jenny Ryan, Paul Sinha, Darragh Ennis, Mark Labbett, and Shaun Wallace. The ITV show first aired in 2009 and has become one of the most iconic quiz shows on British television, where contestants must compete against The Chasers.

Hosted by Bradley Walsh, the fast-paced game involves players attempting to beat The Chaser, and walk away with a cash prize. Each Chaser has their own nickname and have found fame since the show launched, as well as starring in the spin-off ITV show, Beat the Chasers.

Since they landed on our television screens, the big question remains: who is the ultimate Chaser on TV?

Earlier this year, new research by Betway analysed factors like accuracy, win rate, and the highest target caught to rank the best Chaser of all time. Financially, Paul Sinha is the Chaser who comes out on top.

Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha boasts a 78% win rate across 436 appearances on The Chase. His average target to beat is 19 and holds the highest average Chaser win total, raking in £14,651, making him the most financially successful chaser on the show.

Meanwhile, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett has a 76% win rate over 475 episodes since he started in 2009. Labbett holds the record for the highest average target to beat, at 20, and the highest accuracy in the final chase, answering 83% of questions correctly.

Topping the ranks as the best Chaser on television is Anne. With 467 appearances and a win rate of 79% – the joint highest of any Chaser – it’s no surprise that she’s regarded as the most formidable opponent.
