Amir Khan Reveals Huge Payslip From His Mega Fight With Canelo Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez is set to take on Terence Crawford this weekend.
Amir Khan has previously revealed the money he earned from his fight with Canelo Alvarez.
Back in 2016, British fighter Khan went inside the ring to take on Mexican star Alvarez.
With the WBC and Ring middleweight world titles on the line, Alvarez dispatched Khan with a brutal knockout during the sixth round.
However, despite the disappointing result, Khan did receieve a massive purse for the bout.
Speaking to former Premier League footballer Troy Deeney on The Stomping Ground in 2024, Khan was asked about the money involved with the Canelo fight.
“It was like four times [more than most other fight],” he revealed.
“When that deal (The Canelo fight) was put to me and it was about £11/12 million… now look at it this way, I have to fight Danny Garcia, [Andreas] Kotelnik, Zab Judah, Peterson, and maybe Lo Greco to make that much.
“It’s not the fight that’s hard, it’s the training camps. So when you get an opportunity like that, you’re gonna take it because you know that it’s only one fight. Whereas instead of you taking five fights, now Canelo knocked me out, fine, knocked me out with one shot, but you’d probably take more damage in all the other fights.”

After losing to Alvarez, Khan went on to fight five more times before calling it a day back in 2022.
Meanwhile, Alvarez is still going strong and is set to return to action this weekend.
On Saturday, all eyes will be fixated on the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, when Alvarez takes on unbeaten American Terence Crawford.
The pair will be fighting to become the undisputed super middleweight champion of the world.
Ahead of the fight, Crawford, 37, shut down concerns over his ability to add mass after successfully piling on weight.
He said: “I’m at my natural weight. Me bulking up, a lot of people are taking it too far in that. ‘Oh he’s slow, he’s bulked up this and that and he’s fat’. I mean, I don’t care about all that. I just wanna fight.
“I really don’t care if he’s bigger or if I’m bigger, we still got to fight.”
