The devastating wildfires have ripped through homes, including multiple mansions in LA, causing thousands to evacuate since January 7.

Now, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have made a plea to people to help those in need and reports claim, they’ve even opened their multi-million pound mansion.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make plea to people to help those in need amid California wildfires

A passionate statement on their website reads: “In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.

“A state of emergency has been issued.”

The couple then listed ways people can help those affected.

They added: “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.”

Meanwhile, HELLO! reports that Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, have opened their Montecito home to loved ones who were forced to evacuate.

Harry and Meghan ‘donate supplies’ to those affected by California fires

The couple have also reportedly donated supplies, including clothing, children’s items and other essentials, to those affected.

If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do.

It’s reported that the duke and duchess have also been in contact with chef José Andrés and his World Central Kitchen. José provides meals to communities amid natural disasters.

The publication claims that Harry and Meghan are working with their team at the Archewell Foundation to find ways to support the communities affected.

Where do Prince Harry and Meghan Markle live?

Prince Harry and Meghan live in Montecito, California. They bought a reported £12m mansion in the town after quitting their senior royal roles in 2020.

They live there with their two children – Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.

 

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Montecito neighbourhood hasn’t been impacted by the fires, reports claim. However, the pair could have a power cut to their home.

The devastating wildfires began on Tuesday, January 7. More than 100,000 residents have had to evacuate their homes across parts of Los Angeles. The death toll is currently unknown.
