The Womble Football Center boasts several unique features that set it apart from other programs and pays tribute to one of its most illustrious alumni, NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes.
The new facility, which includes amenities that go beyond the typical offerings, has been designed with the modern athlete in mind. Among the standout features are a barbershop, a podcast room, a two-story team lounge, spacious locker and weight rooms, and advanced recovery areas.

Patrick Mahomes, who currently plays for the Kansas City Chiefs, alongside his wife Brittany, donated $5 million to the university. This generous contribution provided the final funding necessary for the South End Zone and Dustin R. Womble Football Center project. In recognition of Mahomes’ generosity, Texas Tech has named the walkthrough area in the Womble Football Center after him, as well as the quarterback meeting room and the offensive coordinator’s office in the new South End Zone Building at Jones AT&T Stadium.
The announcement of the new facility was shared by Front Office Sports on Instagram, capturing the excitement surrounding the opening. “Texas Tech has opened its new $242 MILLION football facility in Lubbock,” the post read.
