Tyson Fury risks wife’s wrath with new announcement after revealing she cut him off
Boxing icon Tyson Fury has explained his reasons for returning to the sport with wife Paris guaranteed to be far from pleased by his latest announcement
Tyson Fury has again risked the wrath of his wife Paris by admitting he plans to continue boxing until he is 50. The Gypsy King is set for another return to the ring in April later this year against Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
This is certainly not the first time that Fury has chosen to come out of retirement, with recent fights and wins over Derek Chisora and Sefer Seferi coming even after he announced he was done with boxing. For the most recent case, it was a second consecutive defeat to Oleksandr Usyk that spelled retirement
However, 12 months on from that loss, Fury announced his decision to return with it certainly clear how his family felt about that as he revealed all on their reactions.
He told the Daily Mail: “My dad stopped speaking to me for a while. My brothers stopped speaking to me, even Paris. Everybody cut me off.
“Nobody wanted me to return and they made that clear… but, it’s my decision and my life.
“It’s my decision to make, but it’s probably a bit selfish. It’s just I’m at my happiest when I’m in that ring entertaining people and I have no plans to stop any time soon. I’ll probably keep fighting until I’m 50 I’d say.”
That last statement is unlikely to go down well with Paris who does not even want him to continue fighting, let alone for the next 13 years.
He added: “I’m back because I’ve chosen to be back. I ‘ve chosen boxing because I love boxing. I ain’t boxing because I’ve spent my money and I have to risk my health to make a quid. I get that people want me to move on with my life but it’s just one of those things I can’t.”
While he admitted to the decision being his own, Fury confirmed that Anthony Joshua played a role in his return. Fury’s long-time rival was involved in a fatal car accident in Nigeria between Christmas and New Year that tragically killed his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele.
Fury said: “The biggest turning point in this comeback for me was the tragedy that happened with Anthony Joshua,” he said. “I was on holiday with my family in Thailand at Christmas just to get away form the rain.

“No matter what life chucks at you, you must continue to move forward I got that from the Rocky movie but it’s so true, there is never a tomorrow. Today is what we have, not yesterday, we have now, tomorrow might not ever come.”
