Television presenter Alison Hammond has fired back at demands for her to be replaced on ITV’s For The Love Of Dogs. The 50-year-old took over presenting duties in 2024, following the death of its long-standing host, Paul O’Grady.
While numerous viewers have embraced Alison’s takeover of the programme, others have demanded her removal. One name the presenter reveals has been put forward by audiences is Strictly Come Dancing favourite, Pete Wicks, who already fronts a rival show titled Pete Wicks: For Dogs’ Sake.
Hitting back at those who have called for the former The Only Way Is Essex star to replace her, she declared: “People say Pete Wicks would be better than me at presenting For The Love Of Dogs.

“He might be but I’m doing it, deal with it! I know my worth. Besides, my mum would be so proud.
“That’s the reason I do this, she’s my guiding light.”
It’s not just her role on For The Love Of Dogs that has triggered criticism towards Alison.
Speaking to The Guardian, the presenter revealed details about a Celebrity Gogglebox viewer’s grievance concerning her.
In a clip posted on TikTok, a woman remarked about Alison’s participation on the programme: “Give somebody else a chance, we’re b****y sick of you.”

“I like these because they humble me,” she revealed, dismissing the remark with laughter.
“They remind me I’m not all that, she hates my guts but that’s all right.”
Despite the criticism, Alison has come a long way since achieving fame on Big Brother in 2002.
Beyond For The Love Of Dogs, she remains a familiar presence on programmes including This Morning, The Great British Bake Off and Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend.
Speaking recently about how the industry has transformed since her rise to fame, she revealed to Radio Times Magazine: “There was no social media.
“You didn’t have that instant judgement from people, apart from when you came out and heard people clapping or booing. Now people tell you how they feel online.”
Emphasising that she never takes her hectic career for granted, she added: “I’ve had hard times, and I know television is fickle, so tomorrow I could be out of work.
“This might not be for ever, so you’ve got to enjoy every single day, and it’s not the end of the world if it ends. I could go get a job in Tesco and be more than happy there as well.”
