Meghan Markle was in ‘floods of tears’ over royal family not defending her about bullying allegations
The couple spilled tea on their tell-all Netflix show
Prince Harry once said that his wife, Meghan Markle, was reduced to “floods of tears” after a statement was released on “bullying” allegations.
The couple made the revelation during an episode of their 2022 Netflix series, Harry & Meghan. They recalled the origins of Harry’s reported rift with his brother, Prince William.
It comes amid reports that the Sussexes may be attempting to rebuild bridges with their relatives across the pond.

Palace’s statement on William and Harry ‘bullying’ allegations
During episode five of the tell-all series, Prince Harry reflected on the relationship he had lost with his big brother.
Over heartbreaking footage of the pair playing together as children, he gave his take on where it had all gone wrong.
In January of 2020, a statement emerged from both William and Harry to deny “false” claims of bullying. It came after Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from their senior working royal roles.
The Times had published a report claiming a source had alleged that Harry and Meghan felt pushed away from the royal family by the “bullying” attitude of William.
Shutting down the claims, the palace released a joint statement from William and Harry. The statement described the article as “inflammatory” and “offensive”.
However, years later, Harry claimed that he never agreed to the statement, or even knew about it going out.

Meghan Markle’s left ‘in floods of tears’ during Harry phone call
“That day, a story came out saying that part of the reason why Meghan and I were leaving was because William had bullied us out,” Harry recounted in the Netflix series. “And once I got in the car after the meeting, I was told about a joint statement that had been put out in my name and my brother’s name, squashing the story about him bullying us out of the family.”
I rang M and I told her and she burst into floods of tears.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Harry then carried on. “No one had asked me permission to put my name to a statement like that. And I rang M and I told her and she burst into floods of tears because within four hours they were happy to lie to protect my brother, and yet for three years, they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.”

Royal family ‘peace summit’ to heal ‘rift’
Now, years on, Harry has called for a reconciliation with his family.
In July, aides of King Charles met those of Prince Harry for a reported “peace summit” in London. Significantly, though, aides of Prince William reportedly didn’t attend.
Nevertheless, this appeared to be a significant step in repairing the damaged relationship between Harry and his father and the rest of the royal family.
Harry will reportedly return to the UK in September to attend the annual WellChild events. Many have speculated over whether this could provide a chance for him to reunite with his father, the king, for the first time in more than a year.
The last known meeting of father and son was in February 2024, shortly after King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.
