‘Just be kind!’ Alex Jones fiercely defended as she replaces Matt Tebbutt on Saturday Kitchen Live
Die-hard fans of the show predicted that ITV would be winning some of the BBC’s viewers today…

The One Show presenter Alex Jones switched teatime TV for breakfast today, as she replaced Matt Tebbutt as host of Saturday Kitchen Live.
Matt’s headed off to sunnier climes and is currently Down Under in Australia, on what appears to be a holiday.
As a result, a replacement host was needed. And, as Alex has fronted the show in Matt’s absence before, she seemed like the obvious choice, right? Wrong! Viewers appear to have wanted anyone but Alex to host Saturday Kitchen today (March 7). And they took to social media to reveal as much.

Alex Jones replaces Matt Tebbutt on Saturday Kitchen
At the start of the show, Alex explained that Matt was in Australia.
According to fans following his travels on social media, Matt will be heading home this week. And, Alex announced at the end of today’s show, he will be back presenting the Saturday morning show next weekend (March 14).
And it seems some viewers have switched over to James Martin’s Saturday Morning in the meantime…

Backlash as Alex Jones fronts Saturday Kitchen
Viewers took to the hashtag to urge the BBC to book “anyone else” next time Matt decides to take a break.
One said: “Alex Jones. How many times! Get someone else!” Another agreed and added: “Well that’s me turning off Saturday Kitchen this week.”
A third commented: “Alex Jones ruining our Saturday mornings now too.” Another viewer added: “That’s it, I’m done, ITV it is.”
“Auntie must be in a pretty woeful state now in terms of talent resource when seemingly the only two cover presenters they have are Alex Jones & Alex Scott. There’s only Panorama, Newsnight, Gardeners World and The Sky at Night neither have presented…. yet,” said another.
“A lot of hate for Alex Jones on the #SaturdayKitchen hashtag,” said another addressing the backlash. “Normally, I would have no truck with that sort of thing. However, in this case, it is totally justified. I’m sure she’s a nice person, but as a TV presenter, she is absolutely dreadful.”

‘Just be kind!’
Not everyone felt the same, though.
Posting on Instagram, one fan commented: “I usually watch James Martin but @alexjonesthomson is fantastic on this today. Everything she does is fab and fun.” Another agreed and said: “Love Alex.”
“Well I’m swimming against the tide as I really like @alexjonesthomson she’s a really good, engaging presenter. Makes a change to have a non-chef presenting but I like it,” another praised.
Another urged: “Why are people so critical? Press the button on your remote – simple! I think with what is going on at the moment just be kind.”
