After a busy period with two of the biggest matches of his career, Oleksandr Usyk will choose what to do next in his current position.
In 2024, Oleksandr Usyk completed the most difficult goal of the boxing world in more than two decades, which is to unify all heavyweight titles.
From the opening match in May to determine the titles with Tyson Fury, to the rematch earlier this month to “settle” all the debates, Usyk still stands on the number one heavyweight throne with a record of 23 wins in the professional ring.
So, what is the next plan of the Ukrainian boxer, we have an early answer.
“It’s a very long preparation process. After 12 rounds with Tyson Fury, he needs some time to recover.” – Manager Egis Klimas talked about his wishes for his client.
Oleksandr Usyk wants a long break after working at full capacity in 2024.
With the last two fights, Oleksandr Usyk certainly spent months preparing for a tough opponent like Tyson Fury. Not to mention, he also participated in the movie project “The Smashing Machine” as a villain facing the character of actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
A break is necessary for Usyk, even though right after the last fight, his old opponent Daniel Dubois loudly challenged him.
“Usyk! I want revenge. You did very well today, but for God’s sake, I want revenge for the robbery last time. Let’s do it.” – Dubois grabbed the microphone when the reporter was interviewing Usyk after the match.

Of course, Dubois is the most valuable name at the moment in terms of the heavyweight division, because of the IBF championship that the British boxer owns. Usyk was also the owner of it, but was stripped right after defeating Fury for the first time. The simple reason is that the IBF organization required him to defend the belt instead of rematching Fury, Usyk chose the second option.
However, Daniel Dubois still has a title defense match with Joseph Parker in February 2025. This means that the Usyk rematch, if it happens, can only start in the summer when both are really ready. Therefore, according to manager Egis Klimas, July or August next year could be when the audience will see Oleksandr Usyk step into the ring again.
