Good Morning Britain was halted on Thursday morning as the ITV show, hosted by Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley, delivered a major update on Donald Trump. They shared that the US President has signed a bill ordering the Justice Department to release a trove of documents from the investigation into the multi-millionaire paedophile, known as the Epstein Files – but it isn’t looking good for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Presenter Ranvir Singh shared: “It comes amid growing pressure for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to appear before a US Government committee and answer questions about his friendship with Epstein. Today is the deadline for the former Duke of York to respond to their official request.” Chief Correspondent Richard Gaisford, who was at Buckingham Palace, explained that while pressures are mounting, Andrew cannot be forced to head to the US. He shared: “He is not legally obliged to go in person or appear remotely in front of this committee. But they are really keen to hear his perspective on all of this, but after the disaster of the NewsNight interview, it seems unlikely that he is going to put himself under any more scrutiny in public in any kind of forum.”

The reporter went on to add that the files are likely to be released within the next 30 days, and if more information about the former Prince is seen in there, then he is going to be under much more scrutiny anyway – something that the ITV show believes King Charles prepared for when he stripped his brother of all of his titles.

A guest on the show, media lawyer Mark Stephens, warned: “If he goes to give evidence, he is almost certainly to sink and drown if he says he has a right of silence and he doesn’t want to implicate himself.”

Royal commentator Sarah Hewson added that the Royal Family “need to be very careful” to make sure that they are not seen to be “protecting Andrew” but they must also “provide a duty of care for him”. Andrew strenuously denies all allegations about him.

Fans of the show had a very mixed reaction on the report. Posting to X/Twitter, one said: “Andrew is clearly still digging his hole, he’s guilty of lying and acting irresponsibly but the girl in question was at the time 17 above the age of consent. If that’s the case, then Andrew didn’t break the law and isn’t a pedo. Why not cooperate with the USA & come clean?”

Another said: “About time we got to the bottom of that murky lot. Let’s hope there’s some proper accountability instead of just more cover-ups and excuses!”

While a third added: “Thank God – at least the media can start focusing on other famous weirdos who enjoyed the Epstein lifestyle. Andrew’s been used as a scapegoat for too long now, so time for the rest to face up to what they did and the media spotlight.”
