“VIEWERS OUTRAGED!” : BBC Breakfast faces FURIOUS BACKLASH after ‘PAINFULLY AWKWARD’ Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt interview sparks STORM online.k

Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt were back to host BBC Breakfast on Saturday.

BBC Breakfast sparked backlash on Saturday, with many branding a particular interview “awkward.” Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt spoke with farmer Josh Warren and his daughter Faye from their farm in Draycott, where they discussed the impact the weather has had on their pumpkin patch.

Josh explained that the pumpkins had grown too fast due to the hot weather and that he needed Halloween to be in September instead of October 31.

Naga kicked off the interview: “How is the harvest, as it looks like you’ve got some healthy specimens in front of you?”

Josh put his hands in the air as he explained: “The pumpkins are very early, too early for Halloween. We need to bring Halloween forward a month, to at least September.”

“Oh, dear,” Naga replied before adding, “So explain what’s been happening? What size should the pumpkins be on this date at the end of August?”

As he picked up a large pumpkin, the farmer said, “It should be this colour, not this size. So this should be August.”

Picking up another large orange pumpkin, Josh added, “And they shouldn’t be like that. This should be October.”

“I know this sounds crazy,” he told the hosts. “But I need now no rain because they could by the end of October rot in the field.”

Charlie was quick to chime in and point out: “You’ve got a real problem there.”

However, fans were quick to share their thoughts about the interview before it had even ended, with many branding it awkward on social media.

“Wtf is this pumpkin feature. Awkward Interview or what,” one viewer commented.

Someone else joked: “Bet Charlie & Naga are wishing this interview was shorter.”

“Hahahaha, dear lord #bbcbreakfast,” a third said while someone else added: “Cringeworthy pumpkin interview, to be honest.”

Another went on: “Wow, awkward interview lol #bbcbreakfast.”

BBC Breakfast airs daily at 6am on BBC One.
