“WIN VANISHING?!” — Chris Eubank Jr’s fight-night TRIUMPH over Conor Benn now in jeopardy after SAUNA‑SUIT WEIGHT CUT sparks official probe: “How did he get away with that?”K

Chris Eubank Jr’s win over Conor Benn in major doubt as potential rule breach emerges

Eubank has been ordered to attend a meeting with the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC).

Chris Eubank Jr’s win over Conor Benn could be in doubt over allegations of a potential rule breach before the fight.

Eubank Jr defeated fierce rival Benn via unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April.

In what was arguably the biggest victory of his career, the 35-year-old was awarded the win after all three judges scored the fight 116-112 in his favour.

His father, Chris Eubank Sr, also made an unexpected appearance in north London to reunite with his son and walk to the ring with him.

But now, the younger Eubank has been ordered by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) to answer questions about his preparations for the fight.

They centre around allegations that he used a sauna – which are banned under current rules – in his ultimately unsuccessful attempt to cut the required weight for the fight.

He missed the weight, but was allowed to compete as he was within 10lbs of the rehydration limit on the morning of the fight.

Eubank Jr subsequently spent two days in hospital after the gruelling 12-round bout as a ‘precaution’, his promoter Ben Shalom said.

The BBBofC have refused to disclose what punishment Eubank Jr could receive if he was found guilty of any rule breach, or whether the result of the fight could be affected.

BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith told BBC Sport: “We need to establish exactly what the situation is. I want to find out the dates when it was all done.

“He’s been called in by the Southern Arena Council. He will come in at the beginning of July and tell them what the truth is and then they’ll make a decision.

“Let’s just see what the man has to say. There will be doctors there etc, and the council will consider it and decide what action they need to take.”

SPORTbible has contacted Chris Eubank Jr’s representatives for comment.
