Under-fire star Wynne Evans has issued a rare update after vowing to fight the BBC over his axe from the Strictly Come Dancing tour following his lewd sexual remark

Wynne Evans has issued a rare life update following his public exile after his Strictly Come Dancing scandal. The GoCompare advert star was sensationally dropped from the Strictly UK tour at the start of the year after making a vile sexual remark.

He confirmed that he was “taking some time out” from his BBC radio show and the tour “to prioritise my wellbeing” when the scandal broke. Evans was filmed making an inappropriate sexual comment to Strictly’s Janette Manrara when she joined in a group photo at the tour’s press call.

He was heard singing: “Go Compare,” before adding: “Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick].” Evans then was heard using the demeaning term “spit roast” in reference to a lewd sexual act.

Evans is reportedly planning to take action and seek “recompense” due to the dire consequences of his ongoing scandal. His situation reportedly got even worse last months amid reports he’s lost his lucrative advert deal with GoCompare that he has held since 2009.

He has continued to brush off any drama as he gave fans an update on social media. Evans is taking on a new fitness journey and detailed his progress alongside a sweaty selfie.

The scandal-hit star showed off his personal best time for his bike ride and wrote: “Sunday morning 30 mins done. So good for your mental health.” He added the cryptic hashtags: “#truthwins #wynners.”

Evans’ work has taken a hit due to his actions as he was suspended from his BBC Wales radio show, which he is said to be fighting to keep. Sources close to the star claim he fears he’s been “wronged” and that the comments have been taken out of context.

They added that his legal team have complied a document of 30 pages which they hope will clear his name of any wrongdoing. Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Wynne has got a legal team in his corner and he has a 30-odd page dossier which he thinks will help his case.

“He absolutely loves his job on BBC Radio Wales and having to step back from it in the wake of his [Strictly] dismissal was heartbreaking.”

Reports claimed that discussions were supposed to happen in February but he had made the decision to reschedule them due to his mental health.

It has been claimed Evans was hoping to gain “some recompense” as his reputation had been “left in tatters” following his comments. There had been reports that he was going to a tribunal with the BBC and would “fight with every breath” to clear his name.

When he finally addressed the scandal, he said in a statement: “I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.

“I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection. Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”

Speaking previously to the Mirror, Wynne said: “My language was inappropriate and unacceptable for which I sincerely apologise.” Following the incident, the BBC revealed that they had warned Evans about his behaviour. “He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.”
