Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid had a surprise comment about the Buffalo Bills ahead of Sunday’s highly-anticipated AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Andy Reid and the defending Super Bowl champions defeated the Houston Texans 23-14 in the Divisional Round to clinch a seventh straight trip to the AFC Championship Game. They’re now just one short of tying the 2011-18 New England Patriots for the most consecutive conference title game appearances.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, coach Reid interestingly stated that he expects his team to be listed as the underdogs against the visiting Bills.

“I presume the Bills will probably be favored, but that’s all right,” Reid said, per Rob Collins of Fox 4 Kansas City. “We do our thing.

The Chiefs are actually a slight favorite over the Bills, with the DraftKings and FanDuel sportsbooks listing them as 1.5-point favorites. Buffalo was a slight 2.5-point favorite against Kansas City in last year’s Divisional Round game at Highmark Stadium, which the visitors won 27-24.

And for what it’s worth, the Bills were small 1.5-point favorites in their Week 11 home win against Kansas City (a 30-21 Buffalo win). So make of Andy Reid’s comments as you will, folks.

Andy Reid Looks To Add More To Special Legacy

Reid will enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame in his first year eligibility, having already coached the Chiefs to three Super Bowl championships over his first 12 seasons at the helm. But if he can somehow lead KC to a three-peat, he’ll make an awfully compelling case as the greatest head coach in NFL history.

Legendary Cleveland Browns offensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Famer Joe Thomas called out Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes during Saturday’s Divisional Round game against the Houston Texans.

Clay Martin and his NFL referee crew faced immense criticism for several questionable calls that benefited Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs. This included two bizarre “Roughing the Passer” penalties drawn by Mahomes, and ESPN analyst Troy Aikman couldn’t hold back his frustration with one of the calls:

Fed up with the calls that helped Kansas City, Thomas took to X/Twitter and thanked Mahomes for “exploiting the sham” quarterback rules, noting that it could force the NFL to make significant changes:

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans and several players voiced their frustrations with the officials after the game. Per ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime, Will Anderson Jr. bluntly stated, “We knew it was going to be us versus the refs going into this game.”

NFL Officiating Rules Analyst Walt Anderson: Calls Were Correct
