Washington Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels must have been inconsolable after finding out his friend and former college teammate Kyren Lacy passed away.

Jayden and Kyren played together at LSU, and Kyren, a wide receiver, caught the quarterback’s last touchdown pass in college.

They might have had an opportunity to play together in the NFL, as Lacy was a projected first-round pick after declaring for the draft in December. However, troubling legal matters cast doubt over a pro career, and the 24-year-old has since taken his own life in a shocking turn of events.

It appears he will be fondly remembered by all of them despite the way the last few months of his life turned out.

Kyren Lacy’s father has taken to social media to share a heartbreaking message following the untimely passing of his son.

Lacy, a former wide receiver for the LSU Tigers, was found dead in Houston this weekend and is believed to have taken his own life amid investigations into a deadly hit-and-run accident that took place late last year.

The 24-year-old had declared for the NFL Draft and was a projected first-round pick after leading LSU in touchdowns scored in 2024. But the incident in question had taken place two days prior, leaving what could have been a pro career in jeopardy.

A grand jury was scheduled to begin this Monday, and it’s thought that the wideout couldn’t bear the pressure or the guilt, which is why he opted to end his own life.

Kyren’s father, Kenny Lacy, shared a Facebook post in the wake of the tragic development, warning everyone else to be wary of troubling signs while bemoaning the loss of his son.

Young parents, start talking to your kids at a very early age and make sure they are confident and comfortable confiding in you. Don’t be cool with “I’m Alright,or I’m good” when you know deep down something isn’t right. Mental Health is real, and for the most part, it’s invisible, don’t ignore the signs, even if they may seem small.

Our lives have changed forever and this will never be ok, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here. This has to be the biggest pill our families have had to swallow but I know the love and compassion in our families will get us through. This will never get easier, but we’ll learn to live with it.

Check on your kids mental!!!!!!!!!!!

Lacy was bound for the NFL Draft after registering 866 receiving yards and nine scores for the Tigers last season but was involved in an accident that resulted in the d3ath of a 78-year-old man. Two other people were reportedly injured in the crash.

He fled the scene of the December 17 collision, only turning himself in to police in January.

The WR was charged with negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run with d3ath, and reckless operation of a vehicle.
