Football fans are teeing off on the Dallas Cowboys after executive vice president Stephen Jones revealed the team’s strategy for 2025 free agency.

Last year, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones promised that his team would have an “all-in” offseason approach following their ugly Wild Card Round playoff loss to the Green Bay Packers. Jones didn’t make a single blockbuster move via trade or free agency, however, even passing on two-time rushing champion Derrick Henry despite the latter’s wish to play in Dallas.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Stephen Jones said that the Dallas Cowboys would be “selectively aggressive” in free agency when the market opens next month, per ESPN’s Todd Archer.

But let’s just say that fans aren’t at all buying Stephen’s promise, as social media had a field day calling his and Jerry’s bluff:

“Folks, it’s that magical time of the year when Cowboys fans get their annual dose of false hope, now available in extra strength 😂,” one fan remarked.

“Selectively Aggressive” is this years “All In,” wrote another.

“Selectively sign veterans on the way out to retirement like Zeke!,” quipped a fan.

“So they’re saying they will make moves but nothing too crazy. What a franchise! 😂,” another fan wrote.

“with a lot of work and a little imagination, this team could really be… something,” wrote a user.

“Whatever. Didn’t Jerry say they we “all in” last year? The Jones hype machine is in full effect. They’ll do nothing, like always,” wrote a fan.

“So basically the Cowboys won’t spend money lol,” another user wrote.

“Just like they were “all in” last year? As long as Jerry is the owner, nobody should be worried,” said a fan.

After three straight 12-5 seasons, the Cowboys finished a disappointing 7-10 in the final year of the Mike McCarthy era. Worse yet, the archrival Philadelphia Eagles went on to win Super Bowl 59 over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Aside from making zero significant additions, the Dallas Cowboys also waited until late August to extend star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Then hours before their season opener against the Cleveland Browns, Jerry extended quarterback Dak Prescott.

Jerry Jones had to ensure there was enough cap space to extend his two superstar offensive players. Had he gotten their deals done beforehand, perhaps Dallas could have added more pieces to its roster.

Dallas Cowboys Must Be Aggressive This Offseason

The Cowboys have no excuses. Jones has to learn from last year’s mistakes and be ultra-aggressive in both the trade and free agent markets.

Dallas must fill a void at guard following Zack Martin’s retirement. More receiver help around CeeDee Lamb is also needed. The secondary and defensive line could also use significant upgrades.

If Jones doesn’t make the necessary moves, Dallas is poised to miss the postseason once again while the Eagles and Washington Commanders continue to rule the NFC East.

REPORT: Dallas Cowboys Are Discussing A Micah Parsons Blockbuster Trade

The Dallas Cowboys spent the entire 2024 offseason negotiating contract extensions for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, and it looks like they do not plan to do the same for Micah Parsons.

Now, heading into the 2025 offseason, they have another major contract extension for the linebacker to consider, but it looks like they have zero plans to address it.

Parsons is heading into the fifth and final year of his rookie contract and will break the bank with his new deal.

The Dallas Cowboys have talked internally about the possibility of trading Micah Parsons.

There is a lot of work to be done if Dallas wants to be playing next February, but trading a guy like Parsons is not of those decisions that helps the team get better.

Parsons was incredible during the 2024 season, compiling 12 sacks, 12 TFLs, two forced fumbles, and 23 QB hits in just 13 games.

Micah Parsons Teases Pittsburgh Steelers as His Next Team

Dallas Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons has his name firmly engrained in trade rumors.

While speaking with former Pittsburgh Steelers CB Bryant McFadden, Parsons agreed with the notion that he could play for the franchise.

“I said if I ever returned home, it was going to Pittsburgh,” Parsons said.

It remains to be seen if the Dallas Cowboys would entertain that idea based on what package they could get back.
