Jonathan Ross has revealed all about Macy Gray’s ‘infamous tantrum’ when being unmasked on The Masked Singer UK.
Last month, fans of the ITV show were left stunned when the legendary US singer was unveiled as Toad In The Hole. However, fans were left further in shock seemingly refused to take off her mask. Viewers watched as Macy walked off stage after the panel decided to save Bear in the final vote.
Host Joel Dommett was left open mouthed while the panel consisting of Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and guest judge Suranne Jones, were also left shocked.

During her unmasking interview, fans on X formerly known as Twitter took to the social media site to comment on ‘how awkward’ the interview was. As Joel struggled, experienced celebrity interviewer Jonathan stepped in, although things were still awkward on set.
Now, the star has opened up about the intense moment on the show. Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I don’t think it was my interview technique. I think it was just me being a relatively compassionate human. I wanted to make that moment on stage for her less awkward, that’s all.”
He then went on to explain that he was trying to ‘keep the star engaged’ so she didn’t look bad. He then went on to explain how he put the spotlight on Joel – to take the focus away from what had happened to Macy.

“I was a little surprised at her reaction, but I can understand why someone might feel vulnerable in that moment,” Jonathan said, as he concluded: “Ultimately, it’s the audience that has decided who’s in the bottom two. It’s not us. And I think we’d all guessed pretty much it was her by then.”
This weekend marks the final of The Masked Singer UK, where Dressed Crab, Wolf and Pufferfish will battle it out to be this year’s champ. Last year’s winner Danny Jones will also be joining the judging line-up.
Last weekend saw a double unmasking which saw Bear unmasked as rapper Example, with Bush being unmasked as EastEnders’ Natalie Cassidy. It comes after Natalie announced she would be leaving the BBC soap after playing the role of Sonia Fowler for 32 years.
