Janet Street Porter issued an apology after being branded ‘snobby’ for ‘trash talking bin men’ on Wednesday’s instalment of Loose Women.
The 78-year-old was joined by Charlene White, 44, Denise Welch, 66, and Mariella Frostup, 62, to chat about some of this week’s newsworthy topics.
Charlene brought up the AI trend on social media that transforms pictures of people’s dogs into humans.
While the audience were impressed with her pooch Badger’s new look, Janet couldn’t hide how unimpressed she was.
‘Oh no, oh no, no, no, no,’ Janet said on the ITV programme.
‘Not happy. My Badger, well he is my partner’s Badger, he is going to get the hump after this.

‘He bought Badger. We share him. That person, that dog person, looks like a bin man.’
The journalist’s comment received a few gasps from the audience and Charlene shouted: ‘Janet!’
Janet continued: ‘My Badger is gorgeous. My Badger has got lovely eyes.’
Denise tried to diffuse the situation and chimed in: ‘I think he looks nice, don’t you?!’
Janet fumed: ‘That thing on the right?!’
Charlene quickly interrupted and said: ‘Also we don’t talk about our bin men like that Janet!
‘We definitely don’t do that.’
Janet quickly replied: ‘I take that back. I apologise to all refuse collectors everywhere.

‘I’m very, very sorry, I am. I am truly sorry.’
Some watching at home flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their shock.
One said: ‘Janet sat there in a £245 Stine Goya shirt literally trash talking bin men. #LooseWomen.’
Another added: ‘What’s wrong with a bin man? Snobby cow.’
‘It really wasn’t that funny,’ a third confessed.
It comes after Janet admitted the backlash around Aimee Lou Wood’s Saturday Night Live impression has ‘really hit home’ as she ripped into her White Lotus co-star Walton Goggins on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women.
The sketch comedy has come under scrutiny after a recent ‘mean’ sketch that mocked the Sex Education star’s teeth.
Actress and comedian Sarah Sherman wore huge prosthetic teeth while parodying Aimee in a White Lotus sketch for the American show.
It has got a lot of people talking, including the Loose Women ladies, and Janet opened up about how she feels about it all after being mocked by Kenny Everett and Spitting Image.
Janet said: ‘Looking at that sketch, I can see exactly why Amiee Lou loathed it. The way it probably, the same reason why I got so upset when Kenny Everett and Panelsa Stevenosn impersonated me.
‘I took part in that sketch at the time, in early 70s, because I wanted to be thought a good sport, I thought it was bad for my career if I didn’t take part in it.

‘I thought everybody would say “She’s an opinionated journalist, she dishes it out, but she can’t take it.”
‘But I felt the sketch about me was just about my accent and teeth and my glasses, and it kind of reinforced the idea I was a bit thick.
‘I think that’s the reason, because Aimee Lou, if you look at that sketch, she’s stupid in it. That’s what really hit home.
‘If you’ve watched White Lotus, I’m not a big fan of the show, I’ve watched her in it, I’ve watched a couple of episodes, she’s the star of the show, she’s very engaging and the bloke who plays her love interest or whatever, is like a big hole of nothing-ness on the screen.
‘He apparently loved the sketch with mocking Aimee Lou… well he would wouldn’t he? Because he’s got his moment of stardom.’
