Laura Hamilton admits A Place In The Sun job has ‘BACKFIRED’ as she REVEALS impact Channel 4 show has had on her two children

Laura Hamilton has admitted that her time on A Place In The Sun has ‘backfired’ as she opened up about the impact that the Channel 4 show has had on her kids.

The 43-year-old – who has been part of the programme since 2012 – shares her son Rocco, 11, and daughter Tahlia, 10, with her ex Alex Goward.

Due to the nature of Laura’s job, the youngsters have seen some pretty incredible places and also tried some very tasty food.

Luckily for the presenter, her kids aren’t fussy eaters, but it also means that Rocco’s palette has become very particular.

Which has meant that she ends up spending more dosh on meals when they go out when they are abroad.

Laura said: ‘We always have the cuisine in the place we’re in.

‘So much so it’s backfired a little bit now, because if we go to a restaurant, my son will be like, “no I don’t want the kids’ menu I’m going full-blown adults’ menu”.’

She added: ‘They’ve got a really great palette for stuff.

‘I love my children being experimental with food – they would eat anything, they’re not fussy.”

Laura and Alex tied the knot in 2012, but announced their split in 2022.

The former couple started dating back in 2009.

Laura announced the news on Instagram that they had gone their separate ways in 2022: ‘This isn’t something I ever thought I’d be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated.

‘Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time.’

Alongside her message to fans, Laura shared an image which read: ‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.’

It comes after Laura defiantly hits back at A Place In The Sun fans’ ‘number one complaint’ after sparking vicious mum-shaming row.

Speaking on the Spinning Plates podcast with Sophie Ellis Bextor, Laura opened up about a comment she receives from viewers.

She shared her co-parenting schedule with ex Alex and explained how they split their time with the children equally.

‘They’re with their dad one week and with me one week,’ Laura said.

She added: ‘It’s great, we had the children together, we parent them together, they get the best of both of us. We managed to make that set up work.

‘They love it. If I ever turn around to my children and said ‘Oh you’re going to be with me all the time,’ which I never would, they would be annoyed, they’d be like, ‘No, it’s dad’s week this week’.’

The TV presenter responded to a remark people make on her social media and said: ‘If I ever post things on my socials about being away anywhere, I get comments, ‘Where are the kids? Where are the kids?’

‘No one knows my situation and actually, we spend an equal amount of time with them and do lots of stuff with them, independently.’

However, she feels she has ‘got over that guilt’.

She added: ‘Yes, when they’re with their dad, do I miss them?

‘Of course I do, but I use that time really to do the work that I would be doing when I was going away.’

It comes after last month Laura revealed that she went on a date with Shaggy – and he even made her pay!
