Lorraine Kelly left fans pleasantly surprised this morning when they tuned in to find her hosting the Friday edition of her ITV show – alongside a very special co-presenter.

The TV star, who usually doesn’t present Lorraine on Fridays, began today’s show by showing off her co-presenter for the day: her adorable granddaughter Billie. It has been almost a year since Lorraine’s daughter Rosie welcomed the little one into the world, and the daytime legend updated fans by noting that she has “two little teeth” and isn’t crawling yet but is learning to stand up.

Lorraine was trying to chat to Mark Heyes about his recent stint on The Weakest Link, and they moved into an item on packing for the summer, but baby Billie was all smiles during her time on camera as she gurgled away and waved her toy around. At one point, Mark noticed a splodge of red lipstick on Billie’s forehead and Lorraine admitted: “That’s me, I can’t stop kissing her.”

Billie let out an excited squeal as Lorraine presented her with a book, and was so impressed with how the little one had behaved that she offered her another slot. She joked: “Do you want to come on and do fashion? Or should we talk about the Middle East? Because you could probably solve it better than the rest of them! Okay, I will leave you with your book about Mr Astronaut.”

Lorraine’s new co-host did not go unnoticed by viewers, but many of them were surprised to see her at the onset of the weekend in the first place, as traditionally the likes of Ranvir Singh, and Christine Lampard have stood in for her on the past. One viewer joked: “Wait till she smacks granny in the face with her toy,” whilst another was quick to label the little one as Lorraine’s “new intern” on the show.

Another said: “Bring a baby to work day on Lorraine today I see!” whilst another fan questioned whether the baby had a “choice on whether they wanted to be on national TV” in the first place. One viewer in particular was particularly critical, as they said: “How unprofessional being the child into the studio. He was discussing packing etc. you showed no interest. I was cringing for the poor guy.”

Later in the programme, Billie joined Lorraine again for the fashion segment where she modelled a romper and seemed perfectly home on the set of her grandmother’s show. At one point, she gave a giggle and Lorraine bounced her up and down before she spent the rest of the segment calmly sitting on her grandma’s knee.

But this is not the first time Lorraine has been joined by Billie on air, as the baby was seen alongside her for a Christmas special when she was just two months old. Her debut came merely weeks after her birth when Lorraine proudly introduced the baby girl to her millions of viewers with a brief appearance in October 2024.

Lorraine has a daughter, Rosie, with her husband, Steve Smith, whilst Rosie has gone on to have Billie with her fiancé, who is also called Steve. The 30-year-old has also ventured into the media herself, and she and her mother have interviewed a host of celebrities on their What If? podcast.
