Six years after moving to California and relinquishing their royal titles, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry arrived in the United Kingdom, a move that irked some.
On August 26, Fox News reported on the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Prince Harry, 41, and Meghan, 45, originally intended to mark their return at the end of the month. The couple returned with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The duo is reportedly planning to settle at a private residence outside of London.
Despite the homecoming, the prince and his wife are not expected to be reprising their roles as working royals. This came after the couple returned to the U.K. on a “$12,000 per hour flight.”
Royal experts told the network that Prince William, 44, and Princess Kate, 44, are “concerned” about the couple’s plans for an extended stay.
“Prince William was blindsided,” according to the insider.
Viewers took to social media to mock the duo’s return, claiming the two have not had a paid job in the United States and are currently looking for work.
One person said, “I’m guessing the money ran out and the books didn’t sell well enough. They gotta make a living somehow.”
Another person added, “Dear Harry and Meghan, thank you for being dramatically unemployed in California for 6 years. It was awesome to watch you do your fake jobs that involve smiling, waving, shopping, and eating.”
A third wrote, “They are up to something. Either they need money, or he is dodging his visa.”
Despite the criticism, the prince had a supporter who shared, “Good for Harry. Wanting to be close to his father right now is the right thing to do.”
The two chartered a private plane through Planet 9, a global private aviation company, for their 10-hour flight.
According to aviation estimates cited by Page Six, the Bombardier Global Express XRS costs around $12,000 per hour. The aircraft has been fitted with two bathrooms and comfortable seating for up to 13 passengers.
It also boasted five beds that could accommodate six people, as well as storage space for 12 to 15 medium-sized suitcases.
An inside source claimed the couple chose to travel privately in order to have their beloved dogs — Pula, their black Labrador retriever, and Mia, their beagle — with them.
