Kelvin Fletcher made his first on-screen appearance in 1996 as Andy Sugden, the adoptive son of Jack Sugden and Sarah Sugden. He remained in the role for two decades before leaving in 2016 and while it’s been seven years since Andy fled the village, viewers haven’t forgotten him.

In 2001, Andy found love with Katie Addyman but the pair split after she had an affair with Robert Sugden. Years later, Andy made a pact with Ross Barton that he would kill Pete if Ross did the same to Robert.

This was due to Robert accidentally killing Katie when he pushed her through some rotting floorboards when she learned of his affair with Aaron Dingle.

However, Andy had to bid farewell to the Dales when Chrissie framed him for the accidental shooting of her father Lawrence which the real shooter was Chrissie’s son Lachlan.

He fled on the day of his trial with the help of Robert who gave him spare clothes and a fake passport, putting an end to their two decades old feud.

Away from his time in the Dales, Kelvin and wife Liz bought a 120-acre plot of land in the village of Wincle, near Macclesfield in 2021 which is now featured in their popular series.

The actor documented the farm’s set-up for BBC TV series, Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure, which aired in January 2022. They have since continued to share their farming exploits – as well their family life – on ITV in their own show, Fletchers’ Family Farm, which has been airing since 2023.

ITV has commissioned two more runs of the much-loved show following its standout success, which has seen 6.3 million streams on ITVX so far this year.

The daytime airing of the programme is ITV’s best-performing title in the 11.30am to 12.30pm slot on a Sunday so far this decade, and the new commissions will see the hit series continue well into 2027.

Kelvin and Liz said in a statement: “We’re delighted to be returning for series five and six. What started as a simple desire to share our family’s journey has grown into something far bigger than we ever imagined.
