Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker has slammed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle live on GB News. Appearing on the programme on Thursday (10 September), the journalist weighed in after a source close to Harry suggested that King Charles’ guidance on their titles had impacted Uganda’s decision to withdraw from the Invictus Games.

“It’s insane,” Cameron fired back in a brutal two-word verdict. “Isn’t it, Miriam? That’s all I can say to that. Yes, this is the president’s son [General Muhoozi Kainerugaba], who also happens to be the military chief.

“He tweeted yesterday, saying that Uganda has pulled out of Prince Harry’s Invictus Games. Bearing in mind that the country only joined two years ago, the country’s defence minister stood on stage with Prince Harry in London, announcing their membership.

Prince Harry feels 'sad and lonely' as Meghan Markle to skip UK visit

“Now, he spoke to The Times, this military chief, and has also spoken to another broadcaster as well, and it appears that the so-called – and I quote – ‘Harry and Meghan nonsense’ has been a part of that,” Cameron continued.

Noting that the King “is championing anything that supports veterans and wounded personnel,” the correspondent remarked that his letter, to senior officials, which reiterated that the Sussexes remain “private citizens,” has “clearly caused a little bit of confusion.”

“Harry and Meghan, since 2020, have been non-working royals. Nothing has changed,” Cameron argued.

“Nonetheless, it’s very uncomfortable for the Invictus Games, which arguably is one of Harry’s biggest achievements, but again, it’s overshadowed by the royal drama that he can’t seem to get away from.”

Reflecting on Prince William’s silence, following Harry and Meghan’s return to the UK, the GB News star said William had been “staying out of this briefing and counter-briefing,” and is currently focusing on the sporting community with the ‘On Your Side’ suicide-prevention campaign.

Cameron’s comments came hours after General Muhoozi Kainerugaba confirmed Uganda’s exit from the Invictus Games in a statement on X.

“In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the Invictus Games. We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty’s approval,” he tweeted on Wednesday.

Shortly after, a source close to Harry told ITV: “Intended or unintended, this is clearly a consequence of the Lord Chamberlain’s guidance regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex that was rushed out without consultation on Monday.

“Sadly, the only people who will suffer are the Invictus Games competitors.”
