Princess Catherine once made a moving admission to Prince William and Prince Harry, just a few years before their feud became very evident. The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK last month and is now thought to be in Oxfordshire with his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
The once-close brothers are thought not to have spoken for a number of years, with William having no plans to meet his brother now that he resides in the UK. Back in 2017, Catherine sat down with her husband and brother-in-law for an open and honest conversation around mental health, as part of their joint Heads Together charity campaign.
They described their close brotherly relationship, with Catherine reminding them how “lucky” they were to have one another, especially during the devastating loss of their late mother.
Catherine told Harry and William: “Considering everything that you boys sadly went through and the trauma that you experienced…. I do think it’s incredible how strong and how you’ve been able to cope really and I put that down to your really early years childhood experience but also the relationship that you’ve got. You’re amazingly close,”
William then jokingly said: “Most of the time,” to his wife’s comment about being close to Harry. She then stressed the point, “Some families sadly aren’t as lucky as you guys have been.”
William then added: “We have been brought closer because of the circumstances as well that’s the thing you know you are uniquely bonded because of what we’ve been through.”
The brothers were just 12 and 15 when their late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales, sadly died following a car crash in Paris in August 1997.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex returned to the UK last month, having lived in California since 2020.
The couple stepped down from royal duties six years ago and began a new life in the US, but recently decided they wanted to return.
The couple, as King Charles has now confirmed in a statement released on Monday, will not be returning to royal duties.
