Sky News came to a sudden halt for a bombshell update on  Don@ld T.r.u.m.p. Mark Austin interrupted the programme to bring the audience some “breaking news”, announcing that Trump has sacked his Secretary for Homeland Security Kristi Noem. The Sky News presenter was joined by Washington correspondent James Matthews, who described Noem as one of the most “recognisable faces” in US politics and someone once tipped to become the vice president.

Matthews explained that this was “hugely controversial” because Noem shot her 14-month old puppy in a ditch because it wouldn’t respond to training. “The controversy now surrounds her role. She was very much at the heart of ICE operations in Minnesota and elsewhere,” he continued.

“She famously spoke about domestic terrorists as American citizens were being manhandled by ICE agents and of course, two of them were shot and killed.”

He revealed the breaking point came at a hearing on Capitol Hill, when Noem was asked about 200 million dollars that was spent on an ad campaign urging people to self-deport.

When asked if Trump sanctioned that spending, she responded that he did.

Matthews added: “He was furious,  Don@ld T.r.u.m.p, at that. He spent the morning phoning around, we are told, asking people how she had performed and what they think of her.

“It’s rather clear what he thinks of her because she’s been given the push, replaced by a man by the name of Markwayne Mullin, he’s a senator from Oklahoma.”

The correspondent explained that Noem is being shifted to Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas – a new security initiative that Trump said would focus on the Western Hemisphere.

“She’s employed but very much in a different job,” he concluded.

Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, writing: “I am pleased to announce that the Highly Respected United States Senator from the Great State of Oklahoma, Markwayne Mullin, will become the United States Secretary of Homeland Security (DHS), effective March 31, 2026.

“The current Secretary, Kristi Noem, who has served us well, and has had numerous and spectacular results (especially on the Border!), will be moving to be Special Envoy for The Shield of the Americas, our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere we are announcing on Saturday in Doral, Florida. I thank Kristi for her service at ‘Homeland’.”
