Strictly’s Ellie Goldstein breaks silence on emotional exit in ‘this isn’t goodbye’ admission

Ellie Goldstein has been flooded with messages of love and support as she broke her silence on her emotional Strictly Come Dancing exit.

The model and actress and her dance partner Vito Coppola landed in the dreaded bottom two alongside EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal and Julian Caillon following the show’s Halloween special over the weekend.

Both couples had made it through to week six of the BBC One dance contest, where the show celebrated the spookiest day of the year, which had already taken place on Friday (October 31).

Ellie, 23, spent weeks impressing with her performance alongside her dance partner, 33, and during Saturday night’s (November 1) Halloween special, they performed the tango to Lady Gaga’s Abracadabra in a magic-themed performance, which saw the model and actress pulling her dance partner, dressed as a bunny, out of a hat.

They were seen scoring a total of 27 points out of a possible 40 points from the judges, which left them at the dangerous end of the leaderboard.

It was then revealed during the results show that the pair had to fight for their place in the competition as they faced off against Balvinder and Julian.

After both performances, the judges delivered a unanimous verdict. Anton du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse all opted to save Balvinder and Julian.

Head Judge Shirley Ballas, who had this week’s casting vote, confirmed she would have made the same decision, though she praised Ellie’s efforts throughout the competition, calling her “outstanding”.

On Monday (November 3), as she reflected on her time on the show, Ellie took to Instagram with a personal message, which included a special tribute to her ‘big brother’ Vito.

“THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART,” she began. “Wow… what a journey! I can’t even begin to put into words how grateful I am for all the love, support and beautiful messages I’ve received since leaving Strictly Come Dancing. Every single comment, message, vote, cheer and encouragement has meant the world to me.

“Being part of Strictly has been a dream come true the sparkle, the music, the laughter, and most of all, the people. I’ve grown so much, learned things I never thought I could do, and made memories I’ll treasure forever.

“To my amazing dance partner @vitocoppola thank you for believing in me, for your patience, for pushing me to be my best, and for being by my side through every single step. You’re truly one of a kind. My life now feels complete with you in it.”

She went on: “To the @bbcstrictly team, the judges, love you @claudiawinkle and @tessdaly the wardrobe, hair & makeup, crew, and everyone behind the scenes thank you for making this magical show what it is. You’ve given me an experience I’ll never forget. And the fabulous cast I love you all.

“Massive thanks to @zebedeetalent for all your support to me through my incredible time on Strictly you are all amazing. And finally, to everyone watching at home thank you for opening your hearts to me, for celebrating inclusion, and for showing that dance is for everyone and you CAN achieve anything you want just follow your dreams.”
