Kim later released a video of a 25-minute conversation between the two artists. In the video, the rapper discussed the lyrics with Taylor but did not mention the phrase “bitch”. She was happy to hear the lyrics and thought it was not offensive, telling Kanye to send the finished song for consideration. The lyrics about her in Famous when released were different from the content of the two exchanges, which upset Taylor.
The singer said Kim illegally recorded the conversation. In California, it is illegal to record or eavesdrop without the consent of the participants in the conversation. According to Taylor, the recording was edited and staged by Kim, making her out to be a liar. After the incident, for a while the media and audience criticized Taylor as a snake, implying a sinister personality.
