Luisa continued and said: “I’m now in my refugee era, displaced from my home”. Sharing details on her route home, she added: “It was actually fine leaving, it was very, very easy, we went through Oman, took us about 15 minutes to get through the border then flew out from Muscat to Heathrow. It comes as the UK has “temporarily” sent home the families of its embassy staff in Dubai as a safety precaution amid rising tensions in the Middle East.

In an update to its travel advice, the Foreign Office said: “Due to the ongoing security situation, as a precautionary measure we have decided to temporarily withdraw the dependents of British Embassy staff from the United Arab Emirates. Our embassies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai continue to operate as normal.”
