SH0CK: Amber Davies asks for woman to be removed from Legally Blonde audience as show ‘ruined’

The Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing star Amber Davies warned theatregoers they “would be removed” after she asked for a woman to be kicked out of a Legally Blonde the Musical performance

Strictly Come Dancing and Love Island star Amber Davies shared that she asked for a theatregoer to be kicked out of a Legally Blonde the Musical performance after declaring they “ruined” morale. The West End actress, who is currently starring as Elle Woods in the Legally Blonde the Musical UK and Ireland tour vented her frustration after a recent tour stop in Dublin.

But after performing the first act of the show in Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin on Saturday, July 11, she told her fans that she had asked for a woman to be removed from the audience after the cast noticed her filming during the show. Video, flash photography, and audio is strictly prohibited during performances over copyright issues and also being distracting for the performers on stage.

People routinely film the closing number, known as the curtain call, where the actors bow and thank the audience, but this is the only time filming is allowed. Amber took to her Instagram stories to remind people not to record during the show.

She said: “This is your daily reminder not to film at the theatre. Unfortunately tonight at the Bord Gáis we’ve got a beautiful audience, but there’s just one woman in the front row has been filmed in the entirety of Act One has had us all distracted.

“It’s ruined the morale of our wonderful eighth show on a Saturday night from selfish actions.”

Amber explained that she was that furious about the filming that she asked members of the theatre to remove the woman, adding that she “hoped she’s not back for Act Two”.

She said: “Hopefully she’s not back for Act Two, I’ve asked, can she go so we can just enjoy ourselves. But there has been a couple of people filming in Ireland this week and I’m the type of person, I will count how many seats away you are from what door and you will be told and asked to leave.

“So yeah guys, don’t film. Let’s just enjoy the two and a half hours together, we don’t need to film everything. Okay, right I’m gonna go and do Act Two.”

Fans rally behind West End star over theatre etiquette

The clip was quickly shared on other social media platforms, with fans coming to Amber’s defence. One person said: “respect for amber to singing/acting/being in the moment despite being filmed was still able to know EXACTLY where the filmer was sitting and kick them out.”

A second said: “Once I went to Mean Girls and the lady’s next to us were shouting vaping and recording the show and the people behind asked the to stop and it almost turned into a fight but please can we just live in the moment! Also sorry that would be painful for the actors sending love x”

A third said: “I don’t film at all at the theatre. Not even the bows. It just has never been a phone out kind of place for me.”
