During the Sky’s game against the Indiana Fever last year, Carter infamously clashed with teammate Angel Reese’s long-time rival Caitlin Clark.

Carter bodychecked the rising superstar to the ground, appearing to yell “yo b****”.

Despite the guard having been an important player for Chicago last season, general manager Jeff Pagliocca is said to have opted against attempting to renew her contract.

Pagliocca has made offers to restricted free agent trio Dana Evans, Michaela Onyenwere and Nikolina Milic, however.

Last August, Carter passionately endorsed Reese’s Rookie of the Year case.

She said, “Barbie’s Rookie of the Year. There’s no other way to put it.

“She goes out, she does her work every single night, no matter what team we’re facing. I’m telling you, Barbie’s Rookie of the Year, for sure.”

Reese’s ROTY case was struck by a nasty wrist injury suffered against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Her wrist fracture caused her to miss the last six games of the season, with Clark going on to win ROTY with 66 of 67 votes, Reese receiving the other.

With a 13-27 record, the Sky missed the playoffs.

At the end of last season, the Sky fired popular head coach Teresa Weatherspoon.

Following Weatherspoon’s exit, Reese wrote on social media, “I’m heartbroken. I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life.

“She was the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me. Many don’t even know what it’s like to be a black women in sports when nobody believes in you. You had a tough job.

‘I CAME TO CHICAGO BECAUSE OF YOU’

“All the crazy circumstances that we went through this year & when your back was against the wall, you always believed.

“I came to Chicago because of YOU. You were an unsung hero in my life. We built a relationship in a short amount of time that will last forever.

“I’ll never question God why he brings people in my life and takes them away from me in the capacity that I need them but i’ve always believed everyone is in your life for a reason and a season.

“You were the best reason & season. You didn’t deserve this but I can’t thank you enough. I love you Tspoon.”
