Strictly Come Dancing’s Ross King was in tears as he issued a heartfelt thank you message to Anton Du Beke live on air on It Takes Two. The results show on Sunday night saw the Scottish presenter and professional dancer, Jowita Przystal, see their time on the show come to an end following a dance-off against actress Balvinder Sopal and her partner Julian Caillon.

Both couples performed their routines from Saturday night for a second time. Ross and Jowita danced the paso doble to the theme from Thunderbirds Are Go, while Sopal and Caillon danced a foxtrot to The Way You Look Tonight from the movie Swing Time. However, the judges ultimately voted in favour of Balvinder as she reached week four of the live shows.

Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke chose to save the EastEnders actress and her professional partner. While head judge Shirley Ballas wasn’t needed for a vote, she said she would have chosen the same outcome.

Speaking about his time on the show, Ross said: “I have loved every single minute of it. I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported us, all the people who voted – they’ve been amazing.

“I want to thank everyone here in this room, backstage, the judges, the crew – every single person here has made me so, so welcome. I want to thank a very special lady who has been with me through it all and has been absolutely everything.

“She’s been a mentor, teacher, carer. I could not have wished for a better partner, and I could not have wished to be on a better show. Thank you judges for all your remarks.”

Ross and Jowita appeared on It Takes Two on Monday evening, where they spoke to host Fleur East about their Strictly journey. Jowita shared: “Of course it’s sad and I’m gutted.”

She continued: “But I’m so proud and I’m really, really proud of Ross and what he achieved during that month in the training room. I know it was short but sweet, and I think you should be very proud of yourself.”

Ross also opened up on his time on the BBC show. He said: “For us it’s been the most wonderful, magical, fun journey.” He added: “There’s not one ounce of complaint or regret.”

Fleur handed Ross a rosette to celebrate his status as the most improved celebrity on the show, following Anton Du Beke’s comments on Saturday night. After Ross’ performance, the judge said: “He’s done it again- he’s most improved again!”

Reflecting on Anton’s lovely words, Ross shared with Fleur: “They meant a heck of a lot because when we went in to it we often said ‘there is a competition going on but we’re not really part of it, we’re in our own little bubble’.

“I always said if I could be most improved that would be great for me. So when that happened last week, and to get it again this week was just amazing. So Anton- thank you I really appreciate it.”

As Fleur played a montage of his Strictly journey, Ross shared he was brought to tears. When asked about his mission to inspire older men to dance, he said: “I’m welling up already.”
