In a blistering segment that aired last night (March 10), TalkTV host Julia Hartley-Brewer threw a guest off her live show for mentioning a simple three words. Julia had welcomed former diplomat Sir Richard Dalton via video link onto the programme to discuss the ongoing war in Iran when things took a tense turn.
Dalton was saying: “The United States’ record in the Middle East is appalling, quite apart from arming and conniving a genocide in Gaza,” when he was suddenly cut off by Hartley-Brewer, who interrupted him. She fumed: “Oh, well I’m going to end that now. Richard, we’re out of time anyway, there was no genocide in Gaza.
“Genuinely, with all due respect to you, sir, I’m embarrassed – I’m embarrassed by my own government – that a former British ambassador could claim that there was genocide in Gaza, when even the stats given by Hamas themselves do not even remotely suggest there was any attempt, or certainly achievement, of genocide in Gaza.”
She told Dalton: “That’s absolute nonsense, with all due respect.”
Dalton insisted: “I have a right of reply to that,” and was told: “Very quickly, if you could, Sir Richard.”

As Dalton started to say: “Your opinion-“ he was cut off once again as Hartley-Brewer insisted: “Not opinion!”
He finished: “-is contradicted by a great many international, including Jewish, experts in genocide.”
But the host said: “Yeah, a lot of experts in genocide would say very different.”
Dalton managed to say in conclusion: “It’s a question of the effect. The point is, Iran was contained, this war was unnecessary.”
