Kendrick Lamar Will Not Be Paid for His Performance at America’s Biggest Sporting Event.

Yesterday (February 10), Los Angeles rapper Kendrick Lamar made a splash at the Super Bowl LIX sporting event. This is one of the most anticipated performances of the year. While this performance is sure to be one of the biggest in 2025, fans may be surprised to learn that the 37-year-old rapper will not be paid a single penny for his entire performance at the 2025 Super Bowl.

According to US media, the National Football League has never paid artists to perform at the halftime show, although the NFL does shell out cash for production costs. A Reuters report from 2020 revealed that the PepsiCo-sponsored halftime show featuring Jennifer Lopez and Shakira cost $13 million to produce.

An NFL representative named Joanna Hunter told Forbes in 201: “We don’t pay the artists. We pay the production costs.”

It’s unclear how much Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show — a 15-minute performance between the first and second quarters of the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles Big Game — cost to produce yesterday.
