Angel Reese isn’t just shutting down shots on the basketball court-she’s blocking uninspired attempts in her DMs too.
The Unrivaled Defensive Player of the Year recently shared some of the most overused and unoriginal pickup lines she’s received from men on social media, making it clear that if you’re going to slide into her DMs, you better bring something new to the table.

In the latest episode of her podcast, Unapologetically Angel, Reese was joined by rapper Lady London, and together they laughed about the cringiest messages they’ve seen from men trying (and failing) to get their attention.
The worst pickup lines: What not to say
For Reese, who stands 6-foot-3, it seems like every guy who messages her thinks they’re the first one to come up with a joke about her height.
“I feel like since I’m tall, the ‘climb the tree’ thing, that’s not cute,” she said. “The ‘1-on-1 for your heart,’ that sucks… I feel like the tall jokes, that’s corny.”
Lady London, despite not being a basketball player, has also received sports-related pickup lines.
“I don’t play basketball, but I had somebody put a basketball [emoji] in a DM and say, ‘My ball rolled into your court,'” she shared.
These tired and predictable approaches clearly aren’t winning any points with them.
Thoughtfulness and effort
So if bad puns and basketball clichés are a turnoff, what actually impresses women like Angel Reese and Lady London? According to them, it all comes down to effort and execution.
“Intention means nothing if execution is not present,” Lady London explained. “I like something that’s well thought out, and I love somebody that has great attention to detail-[remembering] something that I may have mentioned once in passing….
“Little stuff like that, it all counts, it all matters, and it just shows the type of partner that you plan to be.”
