Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is coming to an important decision for his career.
Kelce reportedly might not be ready to call it a career just yet.
The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported this week that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end is “leaning more toward” returning in 2025 rather than retiring.
“There’s definitely a sense that Travis is going to try to play more,” Russini said on The Rich Eisen Show.
“I haven’t heard anyone saying, ‘Yeah, he’s really struggling with what he wants to do.’ It’s definitely leaning more towards that. That can of course change… But for this Chiefs operation looking to move forward here, I think they feel pretty good that Travis has a little more left in him.”
The 2024 season showed that Travis Kelce might be past his prime, but he still showed he can be productive in a smaller role as the Chiefs look to get back to the Super Bowl.
He’s coming off a season in which he recorded 823 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 97 receptions.
It took until the end of October for him to find the end zone for the first time during the 2024 season. He got off to an incredbly slow start for the year as he hauled in just eight passes for 69 yards over the Chiefs’ first three games.
A season-ending injury to second-year wide receiver Rashee Rice gave him more opportunities in the offense.

Retirement is a massive decision for every player, and that notion has been following Travis Kelce for some time.
The Chiefs made sure that the tight end made the right decision but also did it in a timely fashion.
The Kansas City Chiefs gave him a month to decide whether or not he will retire. Kelce had until mid-March to decide.
Kelce is due an $11.5 million roster bonus on March 15.
