The coming wave of sports reporting is probably going to be dominated by this new LeBron James vs. Stephen A. Smith feud following a confrontation between the Lakers star and the ‘First Take’ host on Thursday night. And Barstool Sports owner Dave Portnoy is weighing in.

Portnoy took to social media this Friday to share his take after LBJ was seen unloading on Stephen A. after last night’s Knicks-Lakers game.

El Presidente claims he’s primarily neutral when it comes to James and called him a “crybaby” as he defended the ESPN personality, though he criticized Smith for handling the matter with “kid gloves” when he addressed it during ‘Frist Take’ on Friday morning.

Portnoy also claimed he feels bad for Bronny, given the position he’s been put in by his father.

“My heart aches for Bronny James. Poor kid doesn’t belong in the NBA. He can’t quit. He didn’t ask for this. His dad created an impossible situation for him. He’s a Make-A-Wish kid in the NBA. I just hope his dads insatiable ego doesn’t ruin his love for this beautiful game,” he wrote in a tweet.

He later made a video lashing out at James, which you can check out below:

Most people agreed with Portnoy’s take as it was mainly in line with their existing feelings.

Meanwhile, Stephen A. Smith declined to share exactly what LeBron James told him as he suggested the forward’s language was too strong for television, but he did confirm that the Lakers star was upset over his criticism of Bronny.

In any case, the veteran journo just secured a $100 million deal with ESPN. So, while his ego will definitely be bruised, his new contract should leave him feeling a lot better.
