Drake’s ongoing rumored feud with NBA superstar LeBron James appears to have taken a new turn. On January 3, Drake released a new freestyle, sending shockwaves through social media with lyrics.
Drake’s newest freestyle appeared to align with these theories, as its lyrics focused on individuals who have turned against him. It fueled the belief that it could be a subtle jab at LeBron. Although James’ name was not explicitly mentioned in the track, the timing and context led many to think that Drake was taking aim at his former friend.
The track quickly went viral, but the drama didn’t end there. The ‘Fighting Irish Freestyle,’ which was released by producer Conductor Williams, was removed from YouTube just minutes after its release. Universal Music Group (UMG) reportedly struck the video, leading to its swift disappearance from the platform. Until now, it’s unsure whether this move could have been a result of copyright issues.
For context, Drake and LeBron James once shared a strong bond, often seen together at events and publicly supporting each other. However, the relationship between the two has seemingly soured, particularly after LeBron James attended a Kendrick Lamar concert.
Nevertheless, LeBron James has not been seen holding any grudges toward Drake. Last year, the Lakers star was spotted at a training session, enjoying one of Drake’s tracks, bobbing his head and dancing to the beat.
Anthony Davis Reacts To LeBron James Surpassing Michael Jordan For Most 30-Point Games
In the Los Angeles Lakers’ 119-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, LeBron James surpassed Michael Jordan for the most 30+ point games in NBA history. After the game, LeBron’s teammate, Anthony Davis, was asked about his thoughts on LeBron passing Jordan for the record. As a Chicago native, Davis grew up idolizing Jordan, and his response reflected his respect for both legends.
“Yeah, it bothers me. But, it took him seven more seasons. I was actually, growing up, I was one of LeBron’s; that was my area. So, I mean, that’s obviously a hell of an accomplishment. I think he’s probably number one in everything at this point,” Davis said.
LeBron scored 30 points, eight assists, and three rebounds in just 30 minutes of action. With the win, the Lakers improved to 20-14 on the season and will face the Houston Rockets on Sunday.
