Myles Garrett is going nowhere, apparently.
The superstar defensive end expressed a desire to leave Cleveland at the end of the season in order to compete and win, sparking panic within the Browns organization. But it appears the drama is over as the team has reached an agreement on a record extension with the player, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The deal, which will pay Garrett $40 million a year and guarantee him $123.5 million, also makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL.
“From trade to truce and beyond: the Browns and Myles Garrett reached agreement today on a record contract extension that averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money and now makes him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, sources tell ESPN. Garrett’s agent, Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports and Browns GM Andrew Berry finalized the deal today,” Schefter reported on Sunday.
Fans Had A Collective Point To Make After Coming Across News Of Myles Garrett’s New Deal

Given what Myles Garrett previously said about winning, news of the deal had fans all saying the same thing.
“Sheesh! Just glad he didn’t go to Philly 😅” someone wrote.
“money more important than losing,” one wrote in the comments.
“Guess he didn’t care about winning as much as he said🤣,” someone else noted.
“I really want to be traded…How does $40 million a year sound???I really want to trade my house for a mansion…” another joked.
“Hahahaha don’t ever let anyone tell you that money doesn’t solve everything,” said a fourth.
Of course, $40 million a year would be tough for anyone to turn down. Even if they said the following:
“While I’ve loved calling this city my home, my desire to win and compete on the biggest stages won’t allow me to be complacent. The goal was never to go from Cleveland to Canton, it has always been to compete for and win a Super Bowl.
“With that in mind, I have requested to be traded from the Cleveland Browns.”
It doesn’t appear that the Browns will be putting Garrett in a situation to win a Super Bowl anytime soon. They don’t have a reputation for great decision-making. But it appears he’s ready to settle for them making him rich.
