“Guess He Swapped It for Rent” – Victor Wembanyama Responds To Father Selling Game-Worn Jersey That He Gifted To Man’s Son During Jersey Swap For $10,000

Last month, the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center with Victor Wembanyama leading the way.

Wembanyama scored 19 points, seven rebounds, and six blocks to lead the Spurs to a 96-87 win over the Nets.

One of the most wholesome moments of the 2024-25 NBA season happened after that game when Wemby swapped jerseys with a young fan seated courtside for San Antonio’s lone visit to Brooklyn to face the Nets.

However, it turns out the Spurs fan wasn’t going to hang it up and keep it for years to come.

Instead of keeping the game-worn Victor Wembanyama jersey, it landed on the auction block with Goldin auction house to sell.

The jersey is being listed with a starting bid of $10,000.

“Wembanyama, who has swiftly developed a reputation as a man of the people due to positive interactions with fans, immediately stripped this offered San Antonio Spurs City Edition basketball jersey from his back and exchanged it with the young fan, with the two even standing side by side for a quick photo op,” Goldin’s listing of the jersey reads.

It did not take long for Wembanyama to get word on that.

The San Antonio Spurs superstar took to X and simply put a laughing emoji.

Unfortunately, it appears that the father simply used his son as a pawn to get Victor Wembanyama to hand over his jersey for personal gain.

Hopefully, the man’s family actually needs the money, or it will at least go to the kid’s college fund.

Will Victor Wembanyama Stop Giving Out Jerseys?

In a heartwarming turn of events, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama made headlines for his touching interaction with a young fan following a thrilling victory over the Brooklyn Nets when he did a jersey swap.

Now, the jersey that Wembanyama so generously gave away is set to hit the auction block, following the young fan’s father decision not to keep it as a cherished memento.

No one would blame Wemby if he becomes hesitant to give his jersey out again.

Adrian Peterson is in some legal hot water, with authorities in Fort Bend County, Texas, issuing warrants in his name.

According to USA Today, the warrants are out as a result of the former NFL MVP failing to appear in court for two separate child support cases.

“The current legal case is related to a misunderstanding regarding Adrian’s court appearances as it relates to child support, and he is actively working with his legal team to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” Peterson’s publicist Denise White told the publication.

“He is committed to clearing up this situation and moving forward positively.”
