New England Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers can put his legal matters behind him, having been found not guilty on assault charges this Friday, but the case has grown new legs despite being over in the courts.
It’s now suspected that JuJu Smith-Schuster, who was teammates with Peppers for a short spell in New England, may have been involved.
Flint McColgan of the Boston Herald, who covered the trial, included a curious quote from prosecutor Abigail Bird.

Peppers was arrested for assault back in October after his supposed girlfriend accused him of choking her and pushing her head into a wall because she got a phone call while they were having sex around 4:00 in the morning.
The player always maintained his innocence.
