Kylie Kelce Shares Hilarious Insights on Naming Baby Finnley ‘Finn’ Anne Kelce, Including the Names That Didn’t Make the Cut
Kylie Kelce, the wife of retired NFL star Jason Kelce, is keeping it real as always. Just two days after giving birth to her fourth daughter, Finnley “Finn” Anne Kelce, on March 30, 2025, Kylie recorded a postpartum episode of her podcast Not Gonna Lie—and she didn’t hold back. In the episode, which aired on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the mother of four opened up about the whirlwind process of naming her newest bundle of joy, roasting herself for the last-minute decision and sharing the other names she and Jason considered. The episode also featured a heartwarming moment when Jason’s brother, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce, met his new niece virtually and gave her an adorable nickname.

A Name Chosen Under Pressure
Kylie, 33, and Jason, 37, welcomed Finnley Anne Kelce as the newest addition to their family, joining big sisters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, and Bennett, 2. But as Kylie revealed on her podcast, Finn didn’t have a name for the first 24 hours of her life. “We had an idea. We had discussed names with anyone that we could trust to not share names, and we didn’t go with a single option that we had been discussing,” Kylie said with a laugh, cradling her newborn during the recording.
The couple faced a ticking clock when it came time to fill out hospital paperwork before being discharged. At that point, Kylie admitted, they only had Finn’s middle name decided: Anne. “It’s the most generic middle name you could possibly have,” she quipped, adding, “I love that I’m just roasting myself.” Despite its simplicity, the name Anne holds deep meaning for Kylie, honoring several important women in her life, including her own mother, her paternal grandmother, and her sister.
As for Finnley, the name came together in a rush—but it wasn’t entirely new to the Kelces. Kylie shared that Finn had been a contender for their second daughter, Elliotte, years earlier. “She’s very much a Finn. Like, she’s a cute, little Finn,” Kylie said, reflecting on how the name suits her newest daughter perfectly.
The Names That Almost Were
Kylie didn’t shy away from sharing the other names she and Jason had on their shortlist, giving listeners a glimpse into their creative process. Among the contenders were Colette (which they would have shortened to Cole) and Georgie, though Kylie admitted, “I didn’t like anything that got us to Georgie.” Another option was Winifred, which they planned to shorten to Freddie. “I think a little girl named Freddie has to be, like, so badass and so cute,” Kylie said. She clarified that Winifred wasn’t a nod to their late dog Winnie, who passed away in March 2024, despite the similar nickname.
At one point, Kylie even considered sticking with the placeholder name “Baby Girl Kelce” for her daughter. “It was gonna be a very, like, Phoebe from Friends moment of like, ‘Oh, you named her Baby Girl,’” she joked, referencing the iconic sitcom character who temporarily names her triplet “Baby Girl” in the show. While the idea didn’t stick, it showcased Kylie’s sense of humor and laid-back approach to the naming process.
Kylie also addressed the public’s opinions on her baby name choices with her signature wit. “I totally respect your opinion on the names of our children. You’re allowed to have your own opinion, but I actually don’t care what it is,” she said, adding, “And I mean that in the most, like, loving and respectful way.” Her candidness is part of what makes her podcast so popular—she’s unafraid to speak her mind while keeping things lighthearted.
A Family Tradition of Unique Names
The Kelces’ naming choices for their daughters—Wyatt, Elliotte, Bennett, and now Finnley—reflect their preference for names that are traditionally gender-neutral or unexpected for girls. During the podcast, Kylie noted that she gave listeners a “fair warning” that Finnley’s name might not follow the same pattern as her sisters’, specifically pointing out the absence of double letters like the “tt” in Elliotte and Bennett. “If we don’t have two Ts, it’s okay, and she’s still one of us,” she quipped, poking fun at the family’s naming trends.
Kylie has previously shared her philosophy on choosing names that can stand the test of time and avoid undesirable nicknames. In past discussions, she’s mentioned wanting to steer clear of names that could lead to teasing, like “Gary” for a girl, showing her thoughtful approach to balancing uniqueness with practicality.
Travis Kelce’s Sweet Reaction
The episode wasn’t just about Kylie and Jason’s naming journey—it also included a heartwarming family moment. During a taping of New Heights, the podcast Jason co-hosts with his brother Travis Kelce, the NFL star got to meet his new niece virtually. Travis, 35, was visibly delighted, gasping as he saw Finn on
