While going through a divorce can be stressful and heartbreaking, most people don’t have to do it in the spotlight. But for celebrities and singers like Kelsea Ballerini, their divorces played out in the public eye and over headlines.
Back in 2022, Ballerini found herself navigating somewhat of a rocky divorce to country singer Morgan Evans. Airing out her concerns with her Rolling Up The Welcome Mat EP, she quickly watched fans come to her aid. And recently, Ballerini discussed her thoughts on being the “poster child” of divorce after a fan wanted her to sign his divorce papers.
Currently on tour, Ballerini traveled to Salt Lake City over the weekend. With thousands of fans packing the venue, the singer appeared her usual self as she took the stage. And during the concert, she noticed a fan holding up a sign reading, “Will you help finish rolling up my welcome mat and sign my divorce decree?”
Over the years, fans have asked their favorite singers to sign some wild items, but divorce papers might be a first. Taking in the moment, even Ballerini appeared perplexed by the idea. “I feel like I might pass out… I would be honored? Wait, wait, to be clear, this is not your divorce papers? Does this mean I’m a witness? I’m sweating, I’m gonna pass out for sure. Is this legal? I’m not sure this is okay… can someone help me? Is this allowed?”
Kelsea Ballerini Doesn’t Want To Be “Poster Child” Of Divorce
While waiting for some advice, Ballerini decided to give the fan her signature but not on the divorce papers. “I’m so scared. Okay, here’s what I’m gonna do. I’m not gonna do it for a couple reasons. One, because I don’t understand legal things as much as I probably should.”
Not only did Ballerini want to stay out of another couple’s divorce, but she continued, “And two, because respectfully, I am really excited to stop being the poster child for divorce. But I’m really happy for you, and I’m sorry you went through that and I’m gonna write you a little letter on the back. and you’re gonna get someone legal to sign it.”
Fans agreed with Ballerini wanting to most past her divorce. One comment declared, “‘I am excited to stop being the poster child for divorce!’ Yes, girl!!!! You go live your life!.”
