Former Duke Blue Devils star Kyle Filipowski went viral this week after he fell out of the first round. The big man could be seen embracing his girlfriend, Caitlin Hutchison.
The 7-ft-0 power forward was left disappointed after not hearing his name being read, considering that he had shown up at the Barclay Center fully expecting to be among this year’s top 30 picks.
Soon, the talk around Kyle Filipowski would shift to a dark place.
Filipowski’s drop to the second round in this year’s draft came with a significant twist, as some teams seemed to be concerned over some off-court issues with his fiancee, Caitlin Hutchison.
ESPN’s Jonathan Givony revealed on “The Lowe Post” podcast and on “NBA Today” that teams had been “talking about” the age gap between Filipowski and his girlfriend, Caitlin Hutchison. Not only that, but he is estranged from his family, as he doesn’t speak to his parents or his brother.
“NBA teams are talking about the fact that they had question marks about his girlfriend being so much older than him, why was he estranged from his family because of this whole situation,” Givony said on “NBA Today.” “He apparently doesn’t talk to his parents or his brother, and It’s a very, very odd situation. I personally don’t understand why it would cause him to drop like this into the second round.
“There are no questions about his character, but NBA teams are talking about his nerves, and his workouts weren’t great. And when they asked him about the situation in interviews the answers they got weren’t satisfactory for them.”
As for Caitlin Hutchison, she has not stated a word.
Her Instagram is very much active, as she boasts around 3,400 followers on the site.
She has taken measures to stop abuse from fans by locking comments on every post.

Hutchison prefers to keep her life mostly private, but in April 2024, the couple announced their engagement via social media. In Caitlin’s Instagram post, she captioned, “Four months since the happiest yes I’ll ever say.”
The picture she posted had them posing as she showed off her diamond ring.
Per her deleted LinkedIn profile, Caitlin Hutchison worked as an Executive Assistant for Intelerand Medical Systems.
Kyle Filipowski is 20 years old, while Caitlin Hutchison will turn 27 this year.

He stated that some of them had told him that their white girlfriend looked up to Taylor Swift while their girlfriend looked up to Megan The Stallion. He then states the guy asks how many white women he has seen doing the Megan Thee Stallion challenge as opposed to Black women.
He then dove into another story of a friend who relayed that his Black girlfriend started to request money from him as soon as she found out about his NIL money. She wanted her hair and nails done. He then added that the Black women would be upset if they went to places like Chipotle, and she demanded steak houses.
