Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, Ciara, made a shocking announcement this week.
Ciara broke her 2025 social media hiatus with a heartfelt post after the sad passing of her Great Dane, Prince.
The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback took to social media earlier on Thursday to announce the death of the couple’s dog, which has been in his life since his rookie year in the NFL.
“I got you my rookie year & you have been a blessing to our family with so many memories, hugs, and kisses from our 4 kids and us. You will forever be a part of us. Today was a hard day,” Russell Wilson wrote.
Fans sent their condolences over the devastating news:
“Losing a pet is always heart-wrenching; they truly become a part of the family. My condolences to Russell and Ciara during this tough time. 🐾💔🙏,” one fan said.
“I lost mine after 13 1/2 years, so heartbreaking. God Bless them,” a second fan added.
“12 for a Dane is pretty incredible, but still – it’s never long enough 🤎,” another fan commented.
“Brutal. Losing your pup is just an all-around awful experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” a fourth X user commented.
One final fan sent his prayers to Russell Wilson and Ciara: “So sorry to hear about Russell and Ciara’s loss. Their dog was truly a BLESSING to their family. 💔🇺🇸”
The Steelers lost to the Ravens 28-14 in an AFC Wild Card playoff game at Baltimore, ending the season for the team that finished the season on a five-game losing streak and ended up with a 10-8 record.
The nine-time Pro Bowler finished his first season with the Steelers throwing for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns with five interceptions. Wilson missed the first six games this season with a calf injury.
Where Will Russell Wilson End Up In 2025?
Wilson — who threw for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions this season — signed a one-year, $1.2 million contract with the Steelers last offseason.
He is now set to become an unrestricted free agent once the official signing period opens on March 12.
Wilson met with the media and spoke about his desire to stay in Pittsburgh.
“I just love the guys,” Wilson said. “I love the locker room. I love Coach (Mike) Tomlin. Love who he is.”
It remains to be seen if Pittsburgh feels the same way about Russell Wilson.

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been accused of being a serial cheater who makes women sign non-disclosure agreements before getting involved with them.
James has kept a squeaky-clean reputation since he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. But, every now and then, someone comes out with claims of infidelity.
The latest such accuser happens to be podcaster Sofia Franklyn, who has asserted that LeBron, as well as actor Leonardo DiCaprio, get their associates to make contact with women, who are then asked to sign NDAs once they agree to hook up.
