Last week’s game between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs was one of the most anticipated games of the NFL playoffs. Of course, emotions were running high during the match-up, which began immediately, as evidenced by Kris Boyd’s actions.
The Chiefs defeated the Texans. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 177 yards and a touchdown, which went to Travis Kelce. Mahomes also passed for 117 yards on the day.
While Mahomes and Kelce’s playoff performance may have been a topic during the game, it wasn’t all fans were talking about, as on the very first kick-off of the game, a huge moment happened on the Texans’ sideline.
On the opening kick-off of last Saturday’s game, Houston Texans cornerback Kris Boyd would take his helmet off, slam it on the ground, and then go and shove his teams special teams coordinator, Frank Ross.
Kris Boyd Given A Fine Over $8000
The horrible actions cost the Texans a huge penalty during the team 23-14 loss, and now Boyd may have to pay more than just a team penalty issued by the refs. It has now reportedly been confirmed that he will indeed be penalized by the league.
The NFL slammed down an $8,056 fine after the insane actions Boyd took during his team’s loss. Boyd was so animate that he was out of line during the play while speaking to reporters in Kansas City following the loss.
“That’s not in my character. I love everybody here. I love my coaches. I never disrespect anybody,” the former seventh-round draft pick said before adding, “I love Frank, I’m a God-fearing man, I respect everybody. It was a little 10-second thing that happened. It’s football. I never disrespect anybody. That’s not my character.”
While it’s unclear whether or not the Texans will bring him back, if one thing is for sure, second looks will undoubtedly be taken by any team looking to sign the cornerback.
