Sonya Deville is done with WWE, and she’s speaking out about the shocking phone call that ended her decade-long run with the company.
On her YouTube channel, Deville revealed that she was in the middle of contract negotiations when she got the unexpected news.
“I got the call. My contract was not being renewed with the WWE. I got the phone call. We were in the middle of negotiations, so I thought the phone call was going to be middle ground that we met on. An agreement on a contract. It was, ‘We are not renewing your contract.’ I was shocked.”
Deville, who first signed with WWE in 2015 after appearing on Tough Enough, said she put everything into her run, especially in recent years.
“At the end of the day, it’s a business. I think business-minded. For whatever the reason is, I don’t know the reason, and I could sit here and try to come up with one or guess. ‘It was definitely that. I said or did that.’ I put 150% effort in the entire ten years, but most importantly the last three. I went down to the Performance Center on my own time. Moved there for two months to train to get the rust off.”
Despite the unexpected exit, Deville said she quickly made peace with the decision, trusting that everything happens for a reason. That belief was reinforced when, just a week before WWE’s call, she landed her first big film project.
With her wrestling career now in the rearview mirror, Deville is focused on her next chapter—and she made it clear that big things are on the horizon.
“I’m excited. I have a lot of things coming up.”
Sonya Deville’s WWE chapter may have closed, but it sounds like her next move is already in motion. With a major film project lined up and doors opening outside of wrestling, she’s not slowing down anytime soon.

Whether she dominates Hollywood, steps into another ring, or surprises fans with something completely unexpected, one thing’s for sure—she’s just getting started. Where do you want to see Sonya Deville next? Drop your thoughts below!
