Serena Williams has been catching some heat on social media following her appearance at the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday night.
While Kendrick Lamar headlined the event, Williams put in a cameo and was seen dancing to the rapper’s “Not Like Us.” The appearance was considered a shot at Drake, the subject of the diss track, as they were rumored to have dated briefly in 2011.
The tennis legend wore blue and white while performing a dance known as the crip walk with impressive timing, yet she’s facing lots of criticism over it as her older half-sister was kill3d by members of the Crips gang 22 years ago.
“Serena Williams’ sister was kill3d by a Crip in a drive-by shooting & she had the audacity to Crip walk during Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, so she could get back at her ex-boyfriend, Drake… Indefensible,” an X user shared.
“Because for you to go on a national stage and crip walked, after your sister was gunned down senselessly by a crip gang member shows how much of a PIECE OF — human being you are!” another echoed.
“Crip walking on national tv when her older sister was murdered by crips. 43 year old woman btw..” said a third.
“Her sister was kill3d by two Crips in 2003 and has the nerve to call out a man who made a speech about preserving the nuclear family. There’s no ceiling to how stupid these people are,” another user wrote.
“Serena Williams sister was kill3d by Crips, Today she was crip walking on live TV to get back at her ex Drake,” someone else posted.
Serena Williams And Her Family Went Through An Awful Tragedy In 2003
Serena Williams and her family experienced tragedy back in 2003 when her sister, Yetunde Price, was shot in Compton, Los Angeles.
Price, who was 31 at the time, was in an SUV with her boyfriend in front of a crack house when two South Side Crips opened fire on the vehicle as they believed it was defending the location from rivals.
She was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head.
Yetunde Price worked as a personal assistant for her sisters before she was kill3d.

This year, the discourse on the NFL Draft and NBA Draft has gotten even louder as African-American women openly pondered why so many of the players never have a partner that is the same race as them.
One guy on TikTok decided to answer that question by revealing that the vast majority of his division-1 friends in college or headed to the league are dating or married to white women and explained why.
He stated that some of them had told him that their white girlfriend looked up to Taylor Swift while their girlfriend looked up to Megan The Stallion. He then states the guy asks how many white women he has seen doing the Megan Thee Stallion challenge as opposed to Black women.
He then dove into another story of a friend who relayed that his Black girlfriend started to request money from him as soon as she found out about his NIL money. She wanted her hair and nails done. He then added that the Black women would be upset if they went to places like Chipotle, and she demanded steak houses.
