Lorraine Kelly admits she’s ‘not particularly great’ at one part of her job(Image: ITV)
Lorraine Kelly, a veteran of the showbiz industry for over four decades, has confessed that there’s one aspect of her job she still finds “intimidating” and isn’t “particularly great at”. The 65-year-old Scottish presenter kick-started her media career in 1984 on TV-am.
Since then, she has graced the screens of some of the most popular television shows, including Good Morning Britain and Daybreak. In 2010, she launched her own morning chat show, Lorraine, which airs every weekday from 9am to 10am.
Despite being no stranger to on-screen dialogue or interviewing some of the country’s biggest celebrities, she concedes there’s one facet of her job she “isn’t great at”. Speaking to Bella magazine, Lorraine likened herself to a “like a toddler” when it comes to preparing for red-carpet events.
She confessed: “If I’m honest, I’m not particularly great at all of that red-carpet stuff, but it’s part of the job. I’ll go along and have a great evening out, but it can be a little bit intimidating.”
However, Lorraine considers herself “very lucky” to have a makeup artist and stylist who assist her in getting ready. She quipped: “I’m like a toddler when it comes to getting ready.”

Despite being hailed as the “queen of daytime TV,” Lorraine’s show will be cut down to 30 minutes next year due to a series of reductions at ITV. The programme will also transition to a 30-week “seasonal basis”.
Lorraine acknowledges the transition has proved “difficult,” though she confesses to feeling increasingly optimistic as the alterations draw near. Speaking to Woman magazine, she revealed that most of the Lorraine programme’s crew had secured fresh positions within the broadcasting company.
She remarked: “They might not be working with me but they will certainly be working on daytime. Even the ones that aren’t staying, they’re friends, so I’ll still see them.”
The presenter conceded that today’s media environment differs vastly from when the Lorraine Show debuted 15 years ago: “I knew there had to be cutbacks and there had to be changes.

“There are so many more outlets now,” she continued, “and television has to cut its cloth in every single department..”
Lorraine reveals she feels “a lot happier” regarding the modifications now that she’s had opportunity to digest their implications for herself and her crew.
She elaborated, “As I keep telling everyone, this is just another change-who knows what will happen in six months? They might want to expand it, or maybe not. Who knows?”.
The presenter assured audiences that recognisable personalities such as fashion guru Mark Reyes and entertainment correspondent Ross King will maintain their regular contributions. Whilst the programme must become more “tighter” owing to its reduced duration, she maintained, “It will still be the show people expect.”
Speaking about speculation that the programme could be cancelled, Lorraine told the Mirror: “I don’t see myself going anywhere until people get fed up, you know? Until people say, ‘I’ve had enough of that one.'”
