Last year in April, shocking allegations surfaced about Jontay Porter providing sensitive information to sports bettors and placing wagers on games. In response, the NBA took swift action, suspending Porter for life.

New details have emerged from court documents obtained by The Athletic. The documents reveal that Porter texted a co-conspirator during a Toronto Raptors game, sharing updates about his status. The messages reportedly came while Porter was playing against the Memphis Grizzlies. He informed the recipient that he was out of the game.

“I went back to locker room to get eye checked on. Idk if imma play much more. I’m Not starting second half. But if it’s garbage time I will shoot a million shots,” Porter’s text read.

The investigation has also led to the arrest of an alleged co-conspirator, named Shane Hennen. Hennen was detained on Sunday morning at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas. Hennen reportedly revealed the latest information about Porter. It includes a screenshot of the incriminating text, which he had received from another co-conspirator.

Jontay Porter Allegedly Informed Co-Conspirator About Limited Playing Time

Jontay Porter was handed a lifetime ban from the NBA after placing large prop bets on his own statistics during two games. These games included a January 26 game against the Los Angeles Clippers and a March 20 game against the Sacramento Kings.

According to a report by The Athletic, Porter allegedly informed his co-conspirator Shane Hennen about his plans to limit his participation in the March 20 game. Prosecutors allege that Porter asked Hennen not to disclose this information. But Hennen reportedly shared it with others.

Hennen allegedly placed a $2,400 wager that Porter would not surpass the over/under total for points in that game. Porter only three minutes during the match. He finished with no points, no assists, and two rebounds, perfectly aligning with the bet. With the latest revelations, it is clear that the NBA made the right decision in issuing a lifetime ban for Porter.

New Orleans Pelicans Stun The NBA By Trading Superstar Brandon Ingram To NBA Heavyweight In Blockbuster Trade Proposal

With the New Orleans Pelicans enduring another tremendously disappointing season, star big man Brandon Ingram is another name to follow in the trade rumor mill.

The Pelicans enter Thursday as the worst team in the Western Conference (5-22), with only the Washington Wizards (3-21) displaying an inferior record. It’s clear that a rebuild is necessary in NOLA, and that would start with trading core players like Brandon Ingram and/or Zion Williamson.

Svyatoslav Rovenchuk of Athlon Sports recently proposed a blockbuster trade idea that has New Orleans trading Ingram and Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to the powerhouse Golden State Warriors in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga, Gary Payton II, Kevon Looney and De’Anthony Melton:

“The swap allows the Warriors to add another All-Star caliber player around Curry. Meanwhile, the Pelicans land a worthwhile young prospect and a handful of expiring contracts. One could argue that Golden State would need to add some sort of draft pick compensation too, but given Ingram’s modest value, Kuminga may offer more than enough appeal to not have to do so.”
