‘Shocking’ – NFL Fans React To Arrest Decision On Xavier Worthy

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on Friday night in Texas. Authorities in Williamson County charged the former Texas player with assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation.

That charge is a third-degree felony in the state of Texas, but after just hours of deliberation, prosecutors have already come to a decision on whether to press charges.

According to the Austin American-Statesman, Worthy will not be charged, pending an investigation by the local sheriff’s office.

“After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time,” said Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick.

NFL fans are reacting to the decision after some believed the potential punishment could have affected Worthy’s career.

“As a fan I am very relieved. As a person, with how fast they declined to charge Worthy it seems like the accusations were maliciously false and there should be charges for that. No one should be able to straight out lie to the authorities and get away with it. It ruins peoples lives,” one fan said.

“But everyone was quick to post his ‘mugshot’. I hate the internet man,” another fan said.

“It’s March and the chiefs are already getting all the calls. smh,” said one fan.

“I was jumping to conclusions to trade him (overreaction?) but it sounds like it someone made it up to be declining to press charges this quickly. I’m sure the idiots will believe it’s because he’s on the chiefs though even though this happened in Texas,” said another Kansas City fan.

“Great news. Keep your nose clean kid…,” one fan advised Worthy.

“Sounds like his lawyers’ assertions may have carried significant weight with law enforcement, especially for a decision to be reached so quickly,” another fan said, assessing the situation.

“The only thing faster than Xavier Worthy is the case against him being dropped,” one fan added.

Worthy was one of the Chiefs’ best young players this season. He caught 59 passes for 638 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season, and added another three touchdowns in the playoffs.

Two of those postseason touchdowns came in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles, as Worthy ended the day with eight catches for 157 yards and two scored.

We’ll see what the future holds for Worthy as far as this case – and the rest of his NFL career – is concerned.
